Perhaps, since November 1961, when the glorious city of Stalingrad was renamed Volgograd, the city, thank God, has not had any loud renaming … The monuments were not demolished, the street name plaques were not changed, they did not enter the heads of the city dwellers with their philosophy and «cockroaches».
And then, like a bolt from the blue, the information sounded that the Volgograd officials, on the initiative of the Public Chamber of the region, decided to change the names of 9 stopping points. The official reason is that the previous names are supposedly outdated, and the people just want them to be renamed as soon as possible. Well, the people no longer have the strength to endure this disgrace!
A whole working group was even created for this.
As the leaders of this very group stated:
The task before us is interesting and important, because the stops, the names of which we hear every day, create a certain semantic grid in the city, partly tied to geography.
«Gentlemen,» can you hear yourself? What is the semantic grid? What are you talking about?

Against the background of factories closing in the city, unemployment is growing, prices have been inflated for almost everything, we are renaming stops … Class!

I just want to ask a question, in all honesty:
— Do you really think that this is what the city needs now?
The question, as you yourself understand, is rhetorical.
Someone even joked evilly about renaming the stop «Cinema» Oilman «to a stop» Stadium «Oilman». Even then it would have been called the «Oilman Church». Now the church is located in the former cinema.
But now it becomes immediately clear who is the boss in our house?
So I suggest renaming the trolleybus stops «Red October Plant» and «Barricade Plant» in advance. They still breathe in incense. It wont be exactly the hour to close. After all, the younger generation in the future does not need to know about these two industrial giants. The factories will disappear, and our stops have already been renamed. Great!
And then we wonder why residents are fleeing the city? Why has Volgograd become a stranger to them?
