Every time I go out into the streets of my hometown, I catch myself thinking that every time I meet something new and for me it is not known. Either I didn’t pay attention before, or I was simply not interested …

The last walk in the Central District of Volgograd was no exception for me, where, on Lenin Square, right next to the monument to the leader of the world proletariat, I noticed an inconspicuous metal post with a sign on which it was written:

MESSAGE TO DESCENDANTS. November 7, 2017. OPEN November 7, 2067.

Since I do not consider myself a member of the above associations, it was very unexpected to meet this so-called «time capsule».

The tradition of sending various kinds of letters to descendants dates back to the days of the Soviet Union, and as it turned out, it is still alive … True, if then it was really patriotic, since the whole country lived the same life and breathed the same air, now, in my opinion, it is most likely a tribute to fashion, no matter how strange it sounds.

Some people very much doubt the advisability of such «capsules» and their practical application. Modern Russia is no longer the Soviet Union and I think there are plenty of reasons for such conclusions.

Although the idea of ​​such messages is generally good. Who knows, maybe after 50 years this message will be read with enthusiasm by the people of new Russia.
