«Rodimtsev's Wall» in Volgograd. What we know about it
On February 2, 2021, we will celebrate the 78th anniversary of the victory of Soviet troops at Stalingrad . Fewer and fewer are living witnesses of those bloody events unfolding on the banks of the Volga. And very soon, only our memory, streets, houses and memorial places will remain, the names of which immortalize the feat of the Soviet soldier in Stalingrad.

Then Rodimtsevs guards, at the cost of incredible efforts, managed not only to gain a foothold on the right bank of the Volga, but also penetrate deep into the city and subsequently take an active part in the defense of Stalingrad until its complete liberation from the Germans.

This seemingly unremarkable structure managed not only to withstand fire of Stalingrad, but also to perpetuate the feat and victory of the soldiers of General Rodimtsev .
The price of that victory was very heavy. Of the 10,000 soldiers and officers of the 13th Guards Rifle Division who crossed the Volga in September 1942, by the end of the Battle of Stalingrad in 1943, only 320 remained, just think of it!
At the end of the war, the famous inscription in large black letters appeared on the wall:
Here Rodimtsevs guards stood to death «, later added with the words» Having stood, we conquered death.

And in order to perpetuate the feat of General Rodimtsevs guardsmen, the wall was named after him.
The wall is now protected by the state. It is very clearly visible from the Volga.
