It would probably be silly to think that with the chimes that solemnly announced the beginning of the New 2021 to all of us, all the worst will be left behind, and we are about to heal, as they say, happily ever after … To be honest, I thought so too, but the miracle did not happen!

The insight came already in the first days of the New Year, when gasoline prices rose at gas stations, and prices for food rose in stores, even from those that we traditionally classify as products from the so-called “grocery basket”.

Say what you like, but the Central District in Volgograd deserves all praise, after all, the face of the city.

But with New Year's illumination and festive the mood of the authorities of Volgograd somehow did not work out this year. Virus!

It seems that even in the difficult 90s for our country, the center of Volgograd did not look so boring and pathetic, not to mention those areas which are on the outskirts. There is generally darkness.

It seems that the city has plunged into darkness. That only is the illumination of the Alley of Heroes, where half of the lanterns simply do not burn. And in all likelihood, no one is going to turn them on, but why? And so it will do!

And this is the central alley of the city, where people come to walk not only residents of Volgograd, but also its guests, which, however, every year becomes less and less. And this has nothing to do with the virus.

And if it werent for the festive trees, which somehow gave the city a New Year look, one would think that an apocalypse has begun in Volgograd.

And it really came when, after the first, not the heaviest snowfall this year, the city was paralyzed by 10-point traffic jams.
