Kamyshin is a city in the Volgograd region. Located on the Volga, more precisely on the banks of the Volgograd reservoir, 170 km north of the city of Volgograd.
One of the most recognizable symbols of Kamyshin is the bridge over the Kamyshinka River. Its silhouette is often included in souvenirs, which guests of the city take with them as a souvenir.
Borodinsky Bridge in Kamyshin The name of the bridge is «Borodinsky». And it is connected, who would have thought, with the Patriotic War of 1812!
How many such structures can you find in Volgograd — a city much larger than Kamyshin? Yes, in my opinion, not a single one. But there is in Kamyshin.

The history of the bridge began from the street. The thing is that many Kamysh residents took part in the war of 1812, including General K. Kazachkovsky, who lived in Kamyshin until his death.
In 1912, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino, the residents of the city decided to rename one of the city streets to Borodinskaya (now Proletarskaya). And the continuation of the street, which turned into a wooden ferry across the Kamyshinka river, dividing the city into two parts, began to be called Borodinsky bridge with someones light hand.

The need to build a new reinforced concrete bridge in place of the old wooden one was first discussed back in the 30s of the last century. But the Great Patriotic War prevented these plans from coming true.
But in the postwar years, when Kamyshin began to turn into a developed industrial center, it turned out quite possible.
The construction of the bridge lasted four years, and in the early 60s it was put into operation. No one had any questions about the name of the new bridge. It, like the previous one, began to be called Borodinsky.

And by the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino, a memorial sign appeared on the bridge from the grateful residents of the city, fixing its name — Borodinsky.
