Who is he, the only Marshal of the Soviet Union, funeral by will outside Moscow

Most of the Marshals of the Soviet Union who passed the Great Patriotic War war, buried in Moscow. But there is one among them, who in his will named the place of his burial Mamayev Kurgan in the city of Volgograd (from 1925 to 1961 — Stalingrad). The name of this Marshal is Chuikov Vasily Ivanovich .

As you know, Vasily Ivanovich Chuikov, being the commander of the 62nd Army with the rank of lieutenant general, made a huge contribution to the victory of the Soviet troops at Stalingrad. His name is forever inscribed in the history of the battle on the Volga, later called the Battle of Stalingrad.

And although the combat path of Vasily Ivanovich after the Battle of Stalingrad was just as glorious and victorious, it was Stalingrad that became his hometown.

It is not for nothing that the monument erected in Volgograd, on the street that bears his name, is inscribed with the words he said:

There is a city in huge Russia to which my heart was given … It went down in history as Stalingrad.
